Spring 2017 Update

I haven’t been posting regularly, so here’s an update on my life for the past few months.

New Eats!

I’ve been in a total food rut. Literally, every day was overnight oats for breakfast, the same sandwich for lunch, and popcorn, Greek yogurt and Larabars for dinner. It was a nightmare. So, I’ve been using meal delivery services like Blue Apron, Hello Fresh and Green Chef. I’m just using up all the intro discounts I can to try them all, then I’ll settle on my favorite. I’m probably going to mess up and forget to cancel these. So, I’ll be charged about $600 and will get about 22 meals to my front door. Great!

The Thankfulness Roundup 2016

img_0082As far as days go, it’s been a really good one.

As far as months go, it’s been a pretty good one. (There was just, you know, THE ELECTION, nbd).

As far as years go, it’s been a really good one.

I’m thankful for a lot of things this year. And, since I did a post like this last year, I’ve decided to honor the trend and keep it going. Thanksgiving is about adhering blindly to tradition, right?

(Stop being so cynical, Hudson). Here’s what I’m most thankful for in 2016.

Good vibes only

I have not updated this blog in quite some time. Before I get started, here is a short update of my life since, um, January:

  • I went to physical therapy for about 8 weeks to treat my chronic tendonitis/stress fracture. I am doing much better!
  • I have started a return to run program. I am only allowed to do a walk/run every 48 hours, BUT it feels good to even just be outside AND I can do these without pain, which makes me so happy that I have wept actual tears of joy.
  • I am considering adopting another cat.
  • I went to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico (Puerto Vallarta) with my sister and it was excellente.
  • I got a HydroFlask, which I am obsessed with.
  • Wolfgang got a cat tree, which he is obsessed with.

Worst morning workout ever

Ok, let it be known that I don’t like morning workouts, aside from waking up on Saturday for long runs during half-marathon training. Those are fine. But run-of-the-mill, weekday workouts before work? NOPE.

I vowed not to see Star Wars for at least seven days and so I ordered the book instead

The Big Chop is Friday

Ok. It’s happening. My big chop is Friday. This Friday. As in, the day after tomorrow.

I’m going for the TWA (teeny weeny afro) and I’m terrified.

I’m excited.

I waver between terrified and excited. Right now, I’m excited. Twenty minutes ago I was so terrified I was crying.

Vacation Day 1: South Beach, Fort Lauderdale

It’s been a long day. It’s 9 pm and I’ve been up since 2 am this morning.

At 6am, my sister and I flew from Indy to Atlanta, switched planes (sat at the wrong gate for about a half hour whatever) and wound up in Miami at about 11.

We stopped off in south beach for lunch. The water is warm, we almost ran over an old man who wasn’t the least bit alarmed, everyone was half naked in the streets and I changed from jeans to shorts in the front seat of our car, which felt terribly dirty.

Our hotel is pretty dope. We’re staying at the W Fort Lauderdale. The girl at the front desk upgraded our room, gave us free wifi and sent up all the ingredients for margaritas. Our view is so awesome.

There are two infinity pools with hot tubs. We went for a quick dip as soon as we got here and almost fell asleep in the hot tub.

My sister has a swanky business class National rental car membership, so we got to browse a bunch of shiny sports cars. We picked this one. #blackonblack I dove home from target just now and had to lift the seat SO HIGH. The front of this car is so long I couldn’t see the end of it. Also, I almost ran us off the road because Michelle was making me laugh so hard I couldn’t breathe.

When we got back from dinner/target, our girl had hooked is up with free booze. 😲 We spent like $80 at target collectively and we have little to show for it besides chocolate and wine.

My sister dropped something behind this mammoth desk that’s carved from a single solid piece of wood. She asked me to try to retrieve it. I attempted it, but told her it couldn’t be done. Not wanting to take my word for it, she gave it a whirl and this happened and she got stuck and instead of helping I took these pictures. Also, she’s wearing hospital scrubs.

Anyways, there’s a lot of stuff back there. A dollar bill that I’m certain someone tried desperately to retrieve before arriving at the same conclusion I did.

I’m so tired. My throat hurts from laughing so hard all day. Tomorrow morning is free sunrise yoga, followed by a 3-hour Miami cruise and a wine tasting. Should be pretty solid. This room is freezing and humid all at once. I cant. Goodnight.

Hello, South Beach

I’m in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area with my sister until Sunday. The weather is divine and it’s always happy hour. I’ll be here forever, thanks.
